Alcatel-Lucent to Open WiMAX IOT Center in Taiwan
January 18, 2008
French Alcatel-Lucent announced on January 14 its cooperation with Taiwan's MOEA (Ministry of Economic Affairs) to set up a fourth-generation WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) Application and Interoperability Testing (IOT) Center, with the aim to help Taiwanese CPE (Customer-Premises Equipment) manufacturers develop a mature WiMAX ecosystem in Taiwan.

Alcatel-Lucent's Taiwan WiMAX center is projected to provide an end-to-end IOT environment for Taiwanese CPE makers, accelerate the development of innovative application service tests, and ultimately deliver ensuing R&D results to WiMAX players worldwide.

Via this center, Alcatel-Lucent is expected to collaborate with Taiwanese CPE makers on developing CPE products compliant with WiMAX 806.16e-2005 or newer standards, as well as soliciting orders from international telecom operators.
